May 28, 2015
The Texas Senate today concurred on amendments made in the Texas House of Representatives for SB 59 by Senator Jane Nelson which ensures that funds appropriated to help family violence victims reach Texas shelters more efficiently.
"Funds appropriated by the Legislature to help victims of domestic violence should be efficiently and expeditiously disbursed and family violence shelters should not have to go through so much bureaucratic red tape to be able to provide these critical services," said Senator Nelson. "SB 59 will ensure much-needed funding swiftly reaches these organizations and the people they serve."
The bill will now be sent to the Governor's desk.
