SENATOR JANE NELSON RECEIVES BELL HELICOPTER LEADERSHIP AWARD
October 19, 2012
Texas State Senator Jane Nelson received one of the inaugural Bell Helicopter Legislative Leadership Awards from Bell Helicopter on Tuesday. The award is a tribute to elected officials who have supported the aerospace and defense industry and fostered economic growth in Texas and the United States.
“As a businesswoman in the aviation industry, I am honored to receive this award,” said Senator Nelson. “In addition to providing jobs and economic opportunities in our region, Bell Helicopter has played an important role in our national defense. As the daughter of a World War II veteran, I am grateful for Bell Helicopter’s efforts to keep Americans safe.”
Senator Nelson represents District 12, encompassing parts of Denton and Tarrant counties. She was elected to the Senate after serving two terms on the State Board of Education. Senator Nelson was the first Republican woman to chair a major Senate committee and serves as Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services and as a member of the Senate Finance Committee. Next session, she will be the highest ranking Republican in the Senate.
“Senator Nelson is a champion for the aerospace and defense industry,” said Robert Hastings, Senior Vice President for Bell Helicopter. “We recognize her commitment to the service of others and appreciate Senator Nelson’s tireless efforts to make Texas a place that thrives economically, strengthens us socially and preserves the qualities of life that make this such a great place to live and work.”
