Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, received a perfect 100% scorecard rating for her votes in support of Texas businesses during the 83rd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, according to rankings released today by the Texas Association of Business, which named Senator Nelson a "Champion for Free Enterprise" – the organization’s highest legislative honor.

"As a businesswoman, I understand the challenges facing our employers. I am proud to stand with Texas businesses in support of policies that encourage job growth and economic prosperity for all Texans," Senator Nelson said. "Our state economy is the envy of the nation because we have practiced fiscal discipline and created an environment that allows businesses to succeed. We must continue to provide a healthy business climate to help our businesses, large and small, ensure that Texas keeps a strong economy with real opportunities for the next generation."

"Supporting business initiatives in Texas is important for everyone. A good business environment helps keep our economy strong and means jobs. Senator Nelson knows that, and her support means Texas will stay at the top for jobs and economic growth," said Bill Hammond, President and CEO of the Texas Association of Business.

For her work during the 83rd Legislature, Senator Nelson has received several awards, including the Courageous Conservative Award from the Texas Conservative Coalition; the 2013 Women's Health Hero Award from the Texas Women's Health Coalition; the Texas Champion for Children Award from Texas CASA; the Physicians Patient Advocacy Award from Texas Academy of Family Physicians; Senate Legislator of the Year from Texas Nurse Practitioners; and the Courageous Defender of Life Award from Texas Alliance for Life.
