Senator Nelson Recognized by American Cancer Society

GRAPEVINE — Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, has received the Advocacy in Action Award from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The award was presented to Senator Nelson in recognition of her work and support of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
"I am proud to have authored the legislation creating this institute and continue to support its important mission in the fight against cancer. I thank the American Cancer Society for this distinguished honor and look forward to continuing our efforts to eradicate cancer," Senator Nelson said.
Cam Scott, Texas senior government relations director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) stated “Senator Nelson has been a long-time champion for CPRIT, working last session to ensure the one-of-a-kind institution has the ability to continue its groundbreaking cancer research and lifesaving prevention programs. She has continuously demonstrated her commitment to fighting for cancer patients and their families, and we look forward to continuing to work together with Senator Nelson to save lives in Texas.”
Senator Nelson authored the legislation creating the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas. This is the fourth time she has received the Advocacy in Action Award from the American Cancer Society.
