The online publication named her for the second session in a row, noting  her work in passing the Senate budget this week by a vote of 31-0.  "A  vote unanimously passing the budget has not happened in the Texas Senate  since 2005," the publication wrote. Capitol Inside, Editor and  Publisher Mike Hailey said, "Jane Nelson has as much or more power now  as any Texas lawmaker in modern history - and she's earned every bit of  it."

Just this week, the Senate unanimously  passed a smart budget that meets our priority needs and keeps Texas on  path to a successful future," Senator Nelson said. Senator Nelson is chair of the Finance Committee, a member of the State  Affairs Committee, the Senate Select Committee on Texas Ports , the  Legislative Budget Board, the Legislative Audit Committee, the  Partnership Advisory Commission and the Joint Committee to Study Teacher  Retirement System Health Benefit Plans.

Senator Nelson was previously named Senate MVP for the 84th Legislative  Session and she has appeared on three of the previous five Capitol  Inside "All-Pro" teams with honorable mentions.
