The Texas Comptroller issued the Biennial Revenue Estimate (BRE), on January 9, 2017 which indicated that the Legislature will have $104.9 billion available for the 2018-19 budget. Prior to last session, the BRE was approximately $113 billion. However, that number has been decreased to $107.7 billion, according to the BRE. Last session the Legislature appropriated $106 billion in general revenue.
"We will align our priorities with the revenue we have available. I am confident we will pass a budget that meets our needs and keeps the economy growing," said Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound.
